IPL Vs Indian Elections-the losers.....our Indian Security personal

Our Home minister has expressed concerns over the management of security after the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan. He feels that the postponement of IPL matches will be a better idea since it will be difficult to provide security for both the events. IPL ofcourse has put its foot down, since it has already committed itself financially to the advertisers and the team owners. Financial losses will run into crores. It wont be surprising if there is change of heart by our Home Minister before the final decision has been taken. After all crores of rupees are at stake.

The Government is concerned with its elections. The IPL is concerned with its matches. What the politicians earn after being elected is anyones guess. What IPL earns is an open secret. What the security forces will earn is nothing!!!!!!!!!!!

They will be on guard during the elections, during the IPL matches. If unfortunately there is any incidence during eighter it will be blamed on their lack of preparedness. If unfortunately anything happens, it will be our security people who will be losing their lives. If nothing happens, they will be back to their barracks, earning the same amount which they usually earn, while our politicians and Cricketers will be raking in moolah.

Mr. Home Minister, give some thought to this point also.

  1. It honestly is an irony, is it not? Security Personnel who are actually trained at the tax payers expense, people who undergo months, maybe years training, are deputed to provide security cover to cricket matches, and politicians, who interestingly claim a huge fan base.

I have always wondered, why do we need our commandos to sit and protect Cricket Matches? The BCCI earns crores and more crores, why can they not hire security agencies to provide such facilities. Similarly, why does the Government not hire local police to provide security cover at the time of the elections.

It is not the job of trained commandos to leave their jobs for which they have been trained and be at the mercy of our politicians. Had our leaders in power the wisdom to think far ahead, we would not have half the terror problems that we face today.

But then, who do we blame.. The politicians for wanting their share, the power hungry people who run our sports establishments, who make millions, the cricketers who also make millions and are not interested to leave such riches..

Truly said, the loser at the end of the day is the commando, who spends his life guarding others and will one day die unknown.

  2. So finally it has been decided to hold the IPL2 matches as per the original start and end date, except for tweaking a few matches over here and there. Nothing surprising, I was expecting that. Now the politicians are happy, they have their space of television without sharing it with IPL. IPL is happy they dont have to face messy litigations from the sponsorers over the losses that might have come up due to the change in schedule. Only our poor security personal will have to now be on alert for additional days.
